Hi, I’m Xu — and This Is My Kitchen
I’m a mum of three, and I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Not because I’m a chef or a food blogger with a pristine white countertop — but because feeding a family of five every single night requires it.
For years I bought kitchen appliances based on magazine round-ups, YouTube unboxings, and star ratings from people I couldn’t verify had ever cooked a proper family meal. I’d bring something home, use it twice, and shove it to the back of the cupboard.
That frustration is what started this site.
How I Test Products
Every appliance I review on this site is cooked with in my actual kitchen, for my actual family, for a minimum of four weeks before I write a word about it. I track:
- How many meals I cooked with it (I note every use)
- How long cleanup actually takes, not what the box claims
- Whether my kids eat the food it produces
- Whether it’s still on my counter at the end of the testing period — or back in the box
- How the non-stick coating or finish holds up after weeks of real use
I always include the cons. Always. If something is a faff to clean, I’ll say so. If the capacity is too small for a family, I’ll say that too — even if the product is otherwise excellent. The cons section is the most important part of any honest review, and it’s the part most review sites skip or minimise.
What I Cover
My focus is kitchen appliances, cookware, and meal prep tools for families — the things that make getting dinner on the table faster, easier, and less stressful. That means air fryers, Instant Pots and pressure cookers, non-stick pan sets, meal prep containers, knives, and kitchen organisation.
I’m not here to review every blender on the market. I’m here to tell you whether the specific appliance you’re considering is actually worth buying for a family kitchen — with real cook times, real photos, and a straight answer on whether it earns permanent counter space.
